There are 7,300 hospital beds available in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, which is the optimum basis for the preparation phase for a coronavirus epidemic, according to Davor Pehar, a member of the Federal Civil Protection Staff and Director of the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH.
He stated during the press conference on Monday that the beds were distributed in three clinical centers, eight general and seven cantonal hospitals and three special hospitals, according to Fena news agency.
“In our crisis plan, published a month and a half ago, all health care institutions were obliged to plan and provide additional capacities in terms of beds and equipment,” said Pehar.He believes that the health system will respond to the crisis readily and in good quality.
New coronavirus cases were confirmed on Tuesday evening in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. As confirmed by the Crisis Staff, in the afternoon and evening, 48 samples were tested at the Mostar University Clinical Hospital, nine of which tested positive in Mostar and five in Citluk.
Also, one case in Siroki Brijeg was confirmed. The number of coronavirus patients in this canton has risen to 53. Currently, there are 371 coronavirus positive cases in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
