Esad Kabilovic, together with his wife and five children was exiled from their native village of Sase near Srebrenica during the war. For the last 20 years, he has been living in the collective accommodation center Jezevac near Banovici.

“It is not something special, but it helped us, we managed to survive somehow. But if you ask if it is good, it is not “, told Esad Kabilovic.

In Jezevac, he now lives with his wife and two sons with 170 BAM, which he received as a former fighter, and he has occasional jobs, whose number is decreasing now. In the spring, they harvest and dry the plants they sell.

When asked if it is possible to make a living from the harvest of these flowers, Amira Kabilovic said:

“Hardly, you have to pick the bag of flowers to collect a kilogram of it. And a kilogram is 20 BAM, while nettle is 4 BAM a kilogram.”

They don’t even think about returning to Sase, they say that there is no work or life there, and they don’t even have their own piece of land on which someone would build the house for them. Their only hope to get their own home is the CEB II project “Closing of collective centers and alternative accommodations by providing public housing solutions”.

Cooperation Agreements between the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the relevant Cantonal Ministry, and Municipalities/Cities have been signed for 50 subprojects. For sub-projects for which Cooperation Agreements have been signed, the implementation status consists of different phases.

Accordingly, within the CEB II Project, in the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), the implementation of 50 subprojects in 29 Municipalities/Cities is envisaged. For 11 sub-projects, the existing housing units will be renovated/adapted using the existing housing stock, and for 39 sub-projects, new housing units will be built.

With the realization of the mentioned number of subprojects, the construction, reconstruction, and adaptation of 1.451 housing units will be implemented, Federalna reports.
