Sowing in Semberija bijeljina.orgAutumn sowing in Semberija is in full swing and until now wheat has been sown on 70 percent of the planned area, said the Head of the Department of Agriculture in Bijeljina Milan Savić.

This autumn, sowing is planned on the area of 16.000 hectares in Semberija, which is by 500 hectares or three percent more than previous year.

Savić said that the rain which has been falling during previous days prolonged the sowing, but was welcomed by the farmers since the land is now more suitable and easier for processing.

The Sowing Plan which was adopted by the City Assembly foresees that 12.280 hectares is sown in wheat, 2.800 hectares in barley, while rapeseed and triticale, forage crops and oats are intended to be sown on smaller areas.

During the fall sowing, 30 hectares in Semberija will be sown in vegetables.

Total arable land in Bijeljina amounts to 50.000 hectares, and the share of small grains in the sowing amounts to 31 percent.
