After about a year since the official launch of activities, the construction of the future Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanction gained full momentum. All facilities are visible on the terrain where the most dangerous convicts and detainees will be placed, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Justice Marina Bakić told FENA.
Bakić says that favorable weather conditions help in the with further acceleration of the construction, and currently they are working on all ten facilities of the prison complex, and the completion of landscaping and access roads.
In addition to the main contractor (the Czech-Spanish consortium OHL ZS), local subcontractors are involved in the construction process.
Works on the exterior of the complex, which are also significant because of the size of complex, are being completed faster than predicted.
She added that so far there were no major obstacles in the implementation of the project. Given the complexity of the project, participants are faced with a certain, avoidable and the usual challenges for this type of work.
Bakić also emphasizes that with the realization of the planned project, Bosnia and Herzegovina will get prison capacities of maximum security.
This state prison will be the only facility of its kind because it will meet European Prison Rules, which is especially important if you take into account the fact that the existing entity institutes are characterized by the problem of redundancies and inadequate capacities.
