After the hearing in the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik said that he is aware that the employees of the United States (U.S.) embassy in BiH are visiting the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH regarding his case.
He accused the employees of the U.S. Embassy of suggesting to the prosecutors in which direction and in which way the case against Dodik should be conducted.
“Every day, the staff of the U.S. Embassy visits the Prosecutor’s Office and the courts and deals with cases and makes suggestions. That is why we also have evidence. We know exactly when they enter and when they leave the Embassy. We have documented statements from people, but everything will come in its own time. That time will come,” said Dodik.
He called the behavior of U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy “idiotic”.
If it is known that monitoring, eavesdropping, and other intelligence and security tasks can be performed by the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH (OSA BiH) and other police agencies by order of the competent court, it is a justified question who, on behalf of Dodik or other RS officials, is monitoring the employees of the U.S. Embassy, so they know that they are coming to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and suggest to the prosecutors what they should do in the case against Milorad Dodik.
This is not the first time that Dodik has spoken publicly about spying. Three years ago, at a session of the National Assembly of the RS (NARS), he said that they were “listening to Drasko Stanivukovic”.
“Even if your party doesn’t want you to be a candidate, ask those from SDS, I listen to their phones and I know. They are all against you,” Dodik stated then.
Dodik then added that he has the right to listen and that he too will have that right when he becomes president.
At that time, apart from the media and opposition politicians, no institution reacted concretely and checked whether Dodik was really eavesdropping on his political opponents without authorization.
However, whether Dodik was just joking again or he really is monitoring the employees of the U.S. Embassy, it is certain that U.S. diplomats will insist that such allegations be checked because if confirmed, it would be a real diplomatic scandal, Klix.ba reports.
