With the examination of three witnesses of the Prosecution of Canton Sarajevo (CS), the main hearing in the case “Sava Marinkovic et al” for the murder of Sarajevo policemen continued yesterday before the CS Court.
The witness who testified yesterday morning about the murder on October 28th, 2018 in Alipasino Polje was Halil Mujezinovic, the night watchman at the restaurant in Geteova street 4.
That night, Mujezinovic was guarding the cafe “Time out” as in previous years. That morning, around 4:30 a.m., Mujezinovictestified that he heard two bursts, one longer and one shorter.
After hearing the shots, Mujezinovic says that he got up and at that moment saw a police car coming from the direction of the intersection towards Bing, in the opposite direction. The rotating lights on the police car flashed on and off and the car stopped only about 15 meters from him.
As the car stopped, he saw two policemen and from a distance of about 15 meters he noticed bullets on the right side of the car. Mujezinovic immediately gave a statement at the police station that morning.
Mujezinovic‘s testimony was followed by questions from the defense of the accused. The lawyer of the second defendant, Aleksandar Macan, Dusko Tomic, recalled that he stayed with the witness Mujezinovic in February of this year and asked him if he had told him the same thing he testified before the court yesterday.
However, prosecutor Aida Topalovic found it questionable that the lawyer of the accused visited the witness privately before he officially testified before the court. Judge Igor Todorovic, however, did not comment further on whether Tomic’s action was disputed or not.
After Mujezinovic, Jasmin Belan, a tenant of the building in Geteova street, testified before the court.
Two automatic weapon bursts
Belan testifies that he was awakened from his sleep by bursts from an automatic weapon, two of them, one longer and one shorter. He is sure that the shots are from automatic weapons and not from pistols, because he was a soldier and is familiar with being able to distinguish what kind of weapon it is. He explained that the essential difference is in the strength of the shot and its duration.
He then explains that from the window of his apartment he saw a police car driving slowly and that it stopped between Geteova Street 4 and Geteova Street 5. Also, from the window he can see the parking lot in front of Bingo and the area next to the Church in Bosanska Street. He called the police and immediately got down in front of the building to help the people in the police car. However, as he approached, he saw a car riddled with holes, and the policemen looked to him like they were sleeping.
Witness Esma Susic, who lives in the immediate vicinity of Geteova Street, was also in court yesterday. Namely, she works in a kiosk located right next to the entrance to her building, and since her working hours start at 6.00 a.m., she wakes up around 4 a.m. and starts getting ready for the working day. That morning, around 4:10 a.m., she heard something that, as she told yesterday, she thought was a rumble, and the first thing she thought was that someone was trying to break into the kiosk.
Susic says that from the window of her apartment she can see a part of the parking lot in front of Bingo, the B phase and Semira Frasta street and the direction towards the IX transversal.
When she approached the window, she saw a black car driving away in the direction of Mojmilo.
That day, Susic did not work, but the next day (October 27th) she returned to work and as soon as she opened the kiosk – at 6.00 a.m. – as she testified, a car with tinted windows parked in front of the kiosk, approached the kiosk and observed it. Susicsays that, according to her assessment, the man who got out of the car and observed the kiosk is between 35 and 40 years old, and that day he was wearing black pants and a black leather jacket. What is also interesting and what caught Susic‘s eye is the scar on the right side of the man’s face. She adds that he probably came to check if the kiosk has video surveillance because the kiosk overlooks Geteova Street and the place where Adis and Davor were killed. He took the newspaper, got into the car and drove away in the direction of Mojmilo.
The witness added that on the same day, only in the evening when her colleague was working at the kiosk, that man also came, and Susic also saw him from her window, since she has a view of the kiosk where she works.
Judge Todorovic scheduled the next main hearing for Tuesday, April 18th, starting at 9:30 a.m., Klix.ba reports.
