There is no shortage of table eggs in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), but according to producers, in order to meet the needs of the domestic market, exports from BiH are currently stagnating.
Predrag Milicic, president of the Poultry Association of Republika Srpska (RS), who is also the director of the company ”Agreks” from Donji Zabar, said that there are currently enough eggs for consumption in BiH and that there is no fear of a shortage.
”The problem we are currently facing is exports, which in the last seven to eight months has been very bad, almost non-existent. We are the company from BiH that is the only one that has access to the European market when it comes to the export of eggs, and currently, we have stopped exporting in order to be able to satisfy our market,” stated Milicic, adding that export prices were good, but that the priority was the domestic market.
”The supply of the domestic market will not be threatened, but it remains to be seen what will happen with exports in the coming period,” Milicic added.
Dusan Koljibabic, director of the company ”Koka produkt”d.o.o. Ljubinje said that the producers of table eggs have been pointing out problems that could occur in domestic production for years.
”For years, we have pointed out some deviations in the market, that is, the main problems we have in domestic production. Unfortunately, this situation was influenced by various factors, both internal and regional,” he said.
According to him, all producers more or less share the same problems regarding the export of table eggs from BiH.
”Overall, every production must be given a more important place in society, because we as producers are not respected enough by this society,” Koljibabic added, Biznis Info reports.
