At the Paralympics which are to be held from September 7 until September 18 this year in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, colors of BiH will be defended by the national team in sitting volleyball, led by the coach Mirza Hrustemović, and two athletes – Dževad Pandžić (shot putter) and Dženita Klico (shot putter).
In late July, BiH representatives completed the first out of three cycles of preparations in Međugorje. They will continue with preparations from August 12 until August 18, and the third cycle will be from August 26 until September 2. The BiH team will travel to Rio on September 4.
This is the fifth time that the BiH national team participates in the Paralympics (Sydney 2000, silver medal, Athens 2004, golden medal, Beijing 2008, silver medal, London 2012, golden medal).
Apart from BiH, seven more national teams will participate: Russia, Iran, China, Brazil, Germany, USA and Egypt.
The national team of BiH in sitting volleyball is the most decorated sports team of BiH. They were champions of Europe nine times and champions of the world three times. They will give their best to bring gold from the Paralympics in Brazil, for the third time.
In addition to athletics and sitting volleyball, persons with disabilities can compete in wheelchair basketball, table tennis, swimming, shooting, and badminton.
