12895405_1743924475844229_481710498_nThe 19th wine evaluation at the International Economic Fair Mostar 2016 was held on Sunday at the premises of the Mostar Fair, and recognitions for the best will be presented within this year’s fair, from the 12th to 16th of April.

Multi-member international committee, made up of top enologists and led by prof. Dr. Bernard Kozina, evaluated a total of 80 samples of red and white wines that arrived from Herzegovina and the region.

In order for a wine to win a gold medal and to be classified in the top category, it had to get a minimum of 82 points. Also, this wine had to possess unquestionable purity of the smell, the taste and quality in general, as stated from the Mostar Fair.

According to Kozina, this year, compared to 2014, not a single sample was eliminated from the assessment.

“The quality of wine this year will, according to grades, be better than in the previous year. We evaluated somewhat less samples from 2013 and a very large number of samples from 2015. So, there was no wines from 2014, which was a very bad winegrowing year,” said Kozina.

“There is still room for improvement. Absolutely. This is primarily applied to the technology of production of grapes because it needs constant repeating of the fundamental truth that the wines are born in the vineyard. Only from good raw material, only from quality grapes, you can expect equally good wine,” said Dr. Kozina. Awards for the best winemakers will be presented within specialized events of the Fair of Tourism, which is held as part of the 19th International Economic Fair Mostar 2016.
