In the organization of the Olympic Committee of B&H and the American Embassy in B&H, a Winter Olympic Academy will be held in Sarajevo by the end of January 2013. The aim of this project is to connect as many young people of different nationalities from numerous B&H cities and to teach them to see and value optimism through sport activities.
The project will be a very significant step towards strengthening the capacity for the development of new approaches, strategies and activities that will promote respect, friendship, tolerance, and solidarity through sport. This project is very important also for the Olympic Committee because of its direct connection with projects’ aims and activities, which are against any kind of discrimination and violence in sport, based on race, ethnicity, religion, political engagement or gender. Forty High school students will participate in this project, in the age group from 14 till 18 years. These students were chosen based on their success in education and behavior. They will all get the chance to promote Olympic values to their local communities.
Due to this, many High school were visited in various B&H cities, such as Prijedor, East Doboj , Olovo, Višegrad, Trebinje, Široki Brijeg, Livno, Jajce and Fojnica. This is the first project of this kind in this region, and it is being financed by the American Embassy in Sarajevo.
