Petition for preservation of Nature park Hutovo blato, which was started by World Wide Fund for Nature  (WWF) in cooperation with numerous NGOs from BiH, has collected 15 000 signatures so far.

The campaign will continue until 22 April, when the petition will be given to Herzegovina –Neretva Canton (HNK) Government.

Coordinator of WWF BiH Zoran Mateljak, at the special gathering on the occasion of World Day  of Swamps, said that the number of signatures is very large, and WWF thanks everyone for their support. Mateljak added that this is the clear signal for authorities to do something about the preservation of Hutovo Blato.

The natural water regime of Hutovo blato is disrupted by building the hydro-technical infrastructure in the Trebišnjica river basin several decades ago.

WWF calls all nature lovers to sign the petition at www.hutovo-blato.ba.
