Yachts and Boats from the Cillage of Smiljevac Conquered Europe

smiljevac-promVillage Smiljevac near Koraj, located under the mountain Majevica in the municipality Lopare, is connected through business channels with the European Union for 10 years. Namely, European rich clients buy the boats and yachts of polyester from the family company “Smiljevac prom”.

Goran Gajić, the director of “Smiljevac prom” explains for CAPITAL.ba that these days they export boats for Croatia, and that they expect significant businesses in this year as well.

“Since 1989 we started this business in the Austrian company “Sunbeam Yachts”. Ten years ago we started the production of boats and yachts in Smiljevci, and our business partner I Austria said that our primary exports were all right and for the second export they said that we do business better than they do. Since last year, the production in our fabric started again, because it was evident that in other European states that economic crisis was decreasing and that the period of economic recovery is starting”, says Gajić.

Gajić says that the “Smiljevac prom” functions as every family company, because his wife Vajka, son Milan, mother in law Ljubica and her husband  Milenko Babić are all working in the production of yachts and boats.

“Once we employed 9 workers, later, due to the economic crisis, that number was reduced to 5. We hope that we will increase the number of employed workers. We produce boats which are 4 meters long, yachts which are 7, 8 and 9 meters long. Some time ago, we started to produce cisterns for sprayers”, says Gajić.

Twenty years experience in the yacht production and polyester boats helped “Smiljevac prom” to be characterized as a respectable small company for which many rich Europeans know.
