Mirna Jovanovic is a twenty-one-year-old girl from Busovaca, and she is not ordinary by any means. Mirna is ambitious and brave young girl who tells the story about her success with a smile on her face.
She is an athlete, a trainer, a former student of mathematics, and she has her own fashion brand Cibela since recently. She is a girl with big dreams and even bigger appetite for making them true.
“I have always been an athlete. I am training my entire life and I simply cannot imagine my everyday life any different. I am not a type of girl obsessed with makeup and hairstyle, but I am very careful when it comes to clothing. Our style is a non-verbal expression of who we are, and it is very important to send the right message,” stated young Mirna.
After she completed Gymnasium, Mirna went to Sarajevo for her math studies and after a several months of fight with herself, she made a big decision – to follow her dream!
“I just realized that I was spending my time and resources in Sarajevo without having a real perspective at that moment. I was afraid, but I decided to follow my instinct, and thank God that I did,” she said.
She decided to attend a sewing course and start her own business. Mirna started receiving her first orders just a few months later.
“I had never even seen a sewing machine before I went to the course for the first time, but I knew I should be there. In the right place at the right time. On my own path. So how can everything not be as I always dreamt?”
She made her first dress on the course, and she decided to wear it the very next day. The reactions were much better than this brave girl could ever imagine.
“I started sewing just three months after the beginning of the course. Then followed cooperation with the foreign brands and the pieces from my collection are now worn in Abu Dhabi. One year later – I have my own brand, my customers and a store that is still in the process of preparation. I dream about a corner with a little space that will be only mine. Not big, but big for me. ”
The name of her brand – Cibela, is symbolic. Cibela is an old “mother of the earth” that ruled the nature, and which was protected by lions. For her, the goddess represents a success, and lions represent courage and struggle.
Mirna noted that she would not be where she is today without the support of her close friends and family; a successful fashion designer. Mirna is also working as a coach of the Volleyball Group in Busovaca, she is working as a designer, tailor and model for her own brand, she is planning to further expand her business, and she noted the possibility to continue with her studies.
