Zeljko Komsic in New York: ‘There are many more who will defend BiH than those who want to destroy it’

At the invitation of the Association of Veterans and Patriots of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RBiH New York, member of the Presidency of BiH Zeljko Komsic attended the commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the ARBiH.

Komsic addressed those present, stating that he came to New York for other business but that he was honored to attend the gathering. He also congratulated the Day of the ARBiH to all its members as well as the members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RBiH.

“It is important to pass on the story of what happened to our children. We know what happened, but if we don’t talk about the struggle of the ARBiH, not to boast, but about what it meant, how important it was for the survival of BiH, for the survival of the people, for the survival of all those who consider that country their own, but if we don’t pass on that love to future generations, all of that will be lost, and it will be covered in the dust of history. Time passes, and someone has to continue to carry that idea,” said Komsic.

“We succeeded in a task historically set before our generation to defend our homeland, to defend the acquired independence of BiH”.

“Whatever BiH is like, and I am sure that those who fought did not imagine that it would be like it is today, and one can find a thousand and one objections to it, I ask you to always keep in mind, that we have our homeland, we have a state…

The state was not given forever, there are many enemies circling around the state who would gladly finish what they failed to do with blood, tanks, and cannons, including genocide, they would gladly do it today in peace. That is why I say it is important that the story is passed on, that our children, if nothing else, have that passion within them when we talk about BiH,” Komsic said.

“I am sure that BiH cannot perish, and do you know why? Because there are always many more who will defend it, even with their lives, than those who want to destroy it. One of those battles is taking place right now in the United Nations (UN). It is a battle for truth so that what happened in July 1995 in Srebrenica is not forgotten. It is a human struggle unrelated to politics but related to morality and our homeland,” he said.

“We have every human right to be proud of the Day of the ARBiH and everything it means, at least it means a lot to me. It is something that marked me for the rest of my life, and not only am I not ashamed, but I am proud and always say, God forbid, in the same situation, I would do it all over again,” said Komsic, Radio Sarajevo writes.
