book fair2The 29th International Book Fair will be opened today in Skenderija and will gather 41 publishing houses and 160 vendors. Every day, visitors will be able to visit the fair and see various promotions from 10:00 until 19:00 o’clock.

“The International Book Fair has become one of the most visited fairs in BiH and brand by which Skenderija become recognizable,”said the director of the Center Skenderija Amer Kapo.

Muris Sehić from Sahinpasic publishing house points out that the fair is better every year because there are more and more exhibitors.

“This year, 14th Biennial of books will be held, as well as cultural centers of Embassies in BiH who will present their books and culture. Moreover, there will be promotions of books about “Bosanska hiža” in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mak Dizdar and a special promotion of “Stone sleeper” which is again released,” said Spahic.
One of the longtime participants at the fair is the publishing house Laguna from Serbia, which will have more than 1,000 books to offer.

“We will have a variety of books, children’s books, award-winning authors and Nobel Prize winners, so I think everyone will find something for themselves. Last year’s best-selling book was the latest book by Paolo Coelho ‘Be like a river’. We expect that this year’s favorites and best-selling book will be novel ‘Fishermen’ and ‘Spy’ by Paulo Coelho”, said Ranko Samardzic from Laguna.

The fair will be opened until 24th April, and the main sponsors are Government of Canton Sarajevo and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
