With the opening ceremony of European walkways E-6 and E-12 in Veliko Polje on the mountain Igman, the Mountaineering Association will mark the 120th anniversary of mountaineering in our country. The manifestation is due on the 17th of November, and the opening ceremony starts at 9 a.m. This international manifestation will also be supported by the International symposium on the topic ” European walkways E-6 and E-12 in the function of the development of tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina”

The president of the Mountaineering Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zijad Deljo states that besides this manifestation, a lot of other activities had marked the 120 years of mountaineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Zijad Deljo claims that the Mountaineering Association ”had in plan to train 120 young mountaineers, but in the end there were 300 of them.” ” In the beginning of September”, he continues, ” 136 mountaineers conquered the highest mountain top of the Balkans, namely the mountain Musala in Bulgaria, and after that on the 22nd of September this year, 286 mountaineers achieved to  climb mountain Maglić from three different sides, whose height, being the highest mountain in B&H, is 2.386 meters.”

The promoter of the manifestation, Drago Bozija, emphasized how by virtue this project a lot of our fellow citizens will be able to spend their quality time in nature. He continues: ”We want to bring people back to nature. Bosnia and Herzegovina, as no other country in the region, has endless natural wealth, which is unfortunately poorly utilized. With the opening of these walkways, we want to mend the previous picture and prospects of our country and also  give the opportunity to all people to learn about it even more.”
