Republika Srpska will invest 128 million BAM in the construction of a new hospital in Trebinje, said Milorad Dodik, member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He pointed out that tendering for that procedure has been carried out, that property and legal relations have been resolved, that the land on which the hospital will be built is owned by the Republika Srpska, and that the location will be prepared for construction.

“By the end of this month, the subdivision will be completed and the land will be converted from agricultural to construction, so that it will be possible to issue a building permit and continue with this procedure,” said Dodik after a meeting with the mayor of Trebinje, Mirko Curic, which was attended by the Prime Minister of the RS, Radovan Viskovic, Minister of Health and Social Protection Alen Seranic and academician and hospital construction consultant Predrag Pesko.

He pointed out that all this costs a total of 128 million BAM including VAT.

“We single out Republika Srpska exclusively, and it is one of the most important facilities in the health sector of its kind,” said Dodik.

He added that the commitment is to build specialized services or departments that will be available to people.

Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Viskovic announced that preparatory work on the construction of the new hospital, according to the highest European and world standards, should begin by the end of September.

Viskovic pointed out that the Government of RS continuously invests in the health sector and that one of its priorities is health care.

“We are ready to build this capacity as quickly as possible, following shortened procedures, but respecting the legal regulations. The conclusion of today’s meeting was for all representatives of any institution to shorten the deadlines stipulated by law by 50 percent. We want the preparatory work on this hospital to begin until the end of September and that’s how it will be,” Viskovic said.
