On Thursday in Tuzla, on 5th September starts the 13th International Literary Meeting “Cum grano salis” and the distribution of award ” Meša Selimović”.
This year’s literary meetings will open to mark the 100 years since the birth of Ćamil Sijarić.
“The first feature of this year’s literary meeting is to show respect for Miroslav Krleža, Ćamil Sijarić , Ivan Goran Kovačić and especially respects for Mirko Kovać, the winner of the award “Meša Selimović” the great writer who died suddenly on the eve of the very literary meeting”, said the Mayor of Tuzla Municipality, Jasmin Imamović.
He said that from now on, the future literary meetings will begin with the novel promotion of the writer who has received the award from the previous year. The reason is that everyone finds out in the last minute the name of the winner and that is a very short opportunity for citizens and journalists to get to know the author and the award-winning book.
At yesterday’s press conference for journalists, was pointed out that the first day of the literary meetings will be the evening with Faruk Šehić, to who the prize Meša Selimović was awarded for the best work in 2011 for the novel “Knjiga o Uni”.
“This book of Faruk Šehić has entered the shortlist of the first European Union Prize for Literature, and that is very important for us, because this award means that this book will be translated into all European languages”, added Imamović.
Five titles of novels that have been short-listed for the award “Meša Selimović” for the best novel published in 2012 are: “Dugovečnost” of Svetislav Basara (Serbia ), “Belladonna” Daša Drndić ( Croatia ), “Planet Friedman” of Josip Mlakić ( Croatia ), “Odlaganje, parezija” Andrej Nikolaidis (Montenegro ) and ” Karnera ” Milorad Popović ( Montenegro).
