Despite Pandemic, Construction in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to grow

In the first half of this year, 1,245 apartments were built in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period last year. In this way, even in the circumstances caused by the coronavirus, housing construction continued the growth trend from previous years, Nezavisne Novine reports.

According to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, in July, the number of issued building permits was higher by 10.4% compared to July last year, and an increase in the number of planned apartments for construction was recorded.

In the second quarter of this year, in the midst of the pandemic, 644 new apartments were sold in BiH, which is 1.7% more than in the same period last year.

The average price per square meter of new apartments in the second quarter of this year was 1,644 BAM and is lower by 2% compared to the average price in 2019, and compared to the second quarter of 2019 it is higher by 2.4%. At the end of the second quarter of 2020, 4,233 unfinished apartments were registered, which is a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period last year.

Despite the coronavirus, domestic companies had more work abroad. According to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, the value of works of construction companies from BiH abroad in the first half of this year amounted to 64.87 million BAM and is higher by 7.8% compared to the same period last year.
