“Quo vadis, Aida?” declared best Foreign Film in Turkey

The movie “Quo vadis, Aida?” of BH director Jasmila Zbanic, who focuses on the genocide in Srebrenica and had its world premiere in Venice, was named the best foreign feature film at the 57th Antalya Film Festival.

Last night, the awards were presented at the 57th International Film Festival in Antalya, and the winners of the main award “Golden Orange” were announced.

The best of this year’s festival was the film “Hayaletler” (Ghosts), by Azra Deniz Okyay. The Best Actor Award went to Ahmet Mumtaz Taylan, and the Best Actress award went to five Turkish actresses, Tugce Yolcu, Sureyya Kilimci, Elif Urse, Gulcin Kultur Sahin and Canan Atalay.

The best international achievements at this year’s festival were announced, and the best film in this category was “Quo vadis, Aida?”, By Jasmila Zbanic. Iranian filmmaker Massoud Bakhshi was named Best Director for “The Longest Night”, Ali Sulmian and Salim Daw shared the award for Best Actor, and Natasa Stork was named Best Actress for her role in “Preparing for an Indefinite Partnership”.

This year’s Bosnian nominee for the prestigious Oscar film “Quo vadis, Aida?” it had its world premiere in the competition program of the Venice Film Festival, after which it was screened at the Toronto Film Festival.

The plot of the film is about the genocide in Srebrenica, and the main character Aida works as a translator in Srebrenica, a UN-protected zone.
