17 new Radars to be installed in Canton Sarajevo?

dual-refleks-radarMinistry of Interior of Canton Sarajevo ( MIA CS) is planning to install 17 new housing and three stationary radars in this canton in the upcoming period.

The aim of this procurement is to improve the system of traffic safety and work on stopping the reckless behavior of certain drivers since innocent pedestrians are often hurt in the streets.

The number of reckless drivers on the streets of the capital of BiH is demonstrated by the fact that police wrote 36,774 misdemeanor warrants last year, which were the result of the existing radar devices in Canton Sarajevo.

“Department for video monitoring of the unit for traffic is currently equipped with seven stationary radars and four mobile XRD with photo-registration, which are used for the control of the speed of vehicles and the control of respect for light traffic signalization in Canton Sarajevo. The number of 36,774 misdemeanor warrants do not include misdemeanor warrants issued by police in the field, and that are referring to the speed limit that was determined by available hand-held radar devices, but the previously mentioned devices alone,” as stated from MIA CS.

While money from misdemeanor warrants is invested in traffic safety in some cantons in FBiH, that is not the case with the CS, nor some legal solutions are provided.

“For the upcoming period is planned the increase of the number of radar devices, and 3 additional fixed radars were installed at the beginning of 2017, while previously there were 4 of them so that now their total number is 7. We need to purchase 3 more stationary radars and 17 housing ones that will be installed on the territory of Canton Sarajevo,” as noted from the MIA CS.
