After the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) triumphantly informed the citizens on June 10th that an agreement had been signed by the FBiH on the direct procurement of 500.000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine with the manufacturer, it seems like there is still no signature from China.
Sinisa Skocibusic, the director of the Public Health Institute of the FBiH, confirmed yesterday in Mostar that they are still waiting for the signing of the contract from the Chinese manufacturer.
“We signed on our part, sent the originals to China and now we expect them to sign for us. When they do it, we have to pay as soon as possible and after the payment, the first contingent is scheduled to come in five days. So now we are waiting for them to return to us signed contract,” told Skocibusic.
To recall, this is the first contract of the FBiH Government for the direct procurement of coronavirus vaccines.
On June 10th, after the session of the FBiH Government in Mostar, Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic proudly announced to the public that a contract had been signed for the purchase of half a million doses of Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine.
At the time, Skocibusic noted that he had firm promises of a very soon delivery, since deliveries from China are controlled by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and due to the confidentiality clause from the contract they are not able to provide more information, like the price that would be allocated from the FBiH Budget.
“The price of the contract, when it comes to Sinopharm, is confidential, that document is classified as confidential considering that it is a request of the manufacturer and we are not able to talk about it,” Skocibusic stated yesterday in Mostar.
Whether confidentiality is just an excuse to cover up their reluctance will be known soon if they fail to get vaccines once again, Klix
