Who will be the Candidates for the Presidency of BiH?

It is not yet entirely certain whether there will be a general election next year, and what kind of Election Law will be in force, but cross-party talks on the candidates have largely begun. While the opposition parties in the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH are currently unsuccessfully trying to come up with a name for the member of the Presidency, it seems that the ruling party will play it safe. It is not known who will compete with the SDA, whose leader Bakir Izetbegovic announced his candidacy for the Presidency.

The “Sarajevo Troika” would like to come out with one name, but the agreement will not be easy. The SDP believes that their cadre has the right to be a candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency. The names of a well-known lawyer, Ifet Feraget, who has already said that he would not go into politics, but also a former SDA official, Denis Zvizdic, have surfaced as potential candidates that the “Troika” could point out.

Denis Zvizdic, Independent Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina “There are those portals and media that want to get information, and there are also those regime portals close to the ruling SDA party that show great fear of my possible candidacy and try to denounce my political credibility in some way. We will see what will happen, of course, certain talks are underway. ”

There is also a possibility that each party will come out with its own candidate. It is speculated that the leader of the People and Justice, Elmedin Konakovic, also has ambitions for the Presidency.

President of the People and Justice, Elmedin Konakovic: “If the SDP, the People and Justice and Our Party eventually have their candidates, the election for a member of the Presidency will be, I can’t call it a showdown, but our competition, so who is leading the processes within the” Troika “. Between those two models, we think about what is better for us. We all prefer that first one. So let’s find a common candidate. It is not easy given some of our ideological differences. ” It is not easy, but it would be wise for them, analysts believe, because they are more likely to satisfy the voters if they nominate one candidate.

Ivana Maric, political analyst: “Counting on those experiences from the past, when their reason did not really prevail, but somehow vanity decided more. “I am somewhat skeptical that they will be able to reach an agreement this time as well, especially since they are parties that come from different parts of the political spectrum.”

It will also be interesting in the race for the Croatian member of the Presidency, because it is increasingly certain that the main candidates will again be Dragan Covic and Zeljko Komsic, long-time main competitors.

There is nothing less tense in Republika Srpska either. The opposition has no solution yet. The mayor of Banja Luka, PDP’s Drasko Stanivukovic, does not hide that he sees himself in a fight with Milorad Dodik. A few more can be seen. Both the SDS and its DNS, Nenad Nesic, who recently joined the opposition, would have great ambitions. SNSD has not revealed the cards yet.

MILORAD DODIK, President of SNSD “We think about everything, I think about everything. That is far away, when it is special, I will tell you “.

Tanja Topic, political analyst “Belgrade’s behavior, that is, when Belgrade will support it in some way, and we see that currently Belgrade and Aleksandar Vučić are opening the door for some other opposition politicians from Republika Srpska. First of all, I mean the mayor of Banja Luka, Drasko Stanivukovic.

“The picture could be somewhat clearer by the end of the year, when it will be seen whether the BiH Election Law will be changed and to what extent. In the meantime, all political parties will consider two options.”
