The number of contenders for the presidential nomination in the upcoming elections in Russia has reached 29, the president of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova announced at the commission’s session.

“Many of our colleagues are currently attending the congresses of contenders, whose number has reached 29,” she noted.

According to Russian law on presidential elections, self-nominated candidates must secure the support of a group of voters, notify the CEC in advance of the group’s meeting, and submit documentation to the commission by December 27th.

Political parties have the right to nominate their candidates at congresses; party candidates must submit documentation by January 1st.

The presidential elections will be held from March 15th to 17th, 2024.
