329,829 unemployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina

At the end of August, there were 329,829 persons on the records of employment institutes and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed was higher by 1,155 or 0.35 percent, and lower by 20,487 or 5.85 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Unemployment in August compared to the previous month decreased in Republika Srpska by 38 persons or 0.07 percent and in Brčko District of BiH by 24 persons or 0.2 percent, while it increased in the Federation of BiH by 1,217 persons or 0.47 percent.

In the records in August, there were the most qualified workers – 102,155 or 30.97 percent of the total number, followed by unqualified persons, 95,380 or 28.92 percent, and persons with secondary education 92,532 or 28.05 percent.

29,011 people with a higher education or 8.8 percent of the total number of people sought work, 5,371 or 1.63 percent of them had a higher education, 4,616 or 1.4 percent had a lower education, and 764 or 0.23 percent are highly qualified workers.

In August, 13,743 persons were deleted from the records of employment services, of which 5,788 were employed.

At the same time, 9,442 people lost their jobs, while employers reported the need to hire 5,235 new workers in this period.

The rate of registered unemployment in the second quarter was 13.3 percent and compared to the previous quarter it decreased by 0.2 percentage points.
