48th International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry opened in Gradacac

“Days of Plums – 48th International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry” were opened in Gradacac today on the plateau of the Sports Hall “Skenderija”, which the organizers said was a traditional Bosnian brand.

Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Semsudin Dedic congratulated the organizers on the opening of the fair, expressing his belief that businessmen will achieve cooperation and sign new contracts through business meetings. The Minister also expressed the expectation that this traditional fair will contribute to the development of the agricultural and food industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially bearing in mind that during the pandemic, restrictive measures were introduced, which reduced the possibility of business meetings.

He stressed that the Federation of BiH has ensured the regular payment of incentives for production, while last year and this year a public call was issued to support rural development. This will enable farmers to provide grant funds for the purchase of new equipment.

“Every year we face some climate disasters such as drought, frost and floods, which is why capital support to rural development enables the implementation of projects for irrigation of agricultural land and water drainage or procurement of anti-hail protection,” Dedic explained.

The goal is to train as many agricultural plots as possible with local communities and agricultural producers that have irrigation systems, because, says Dedic, there will be less talk about disasters, and more about yields.

As the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton Kadrija Hodzic reminded, the fair has a tradition of almost 50 years and brings with it a tradition of economic development and provides opportunities for stimulating development, connecting people and developing trust.
