The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy informs the public that, in accordance with the Law on Holidays, which is implemented as a federal law based on the Decree with the force of law on the adoption and implementation of federal laws, or the Law on the Confirmation of Decrees with the Force of Law, May Day – Labor Day is celebrated for two days, namely on May 1 and 2.

Accordingly, non-working days in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced.

The statement notes that the Ministry does not determine or prescribe non-working days, but rather implements the law and informs the public about the application of legal solutions that clearly determine when non-working days are based on holidays.

“We call on employers to respect the law and the rights of workers, and enable the use of non-working days in accordance with the applicable regulations. We remind you that the provisions of Article 76 of the Labor Law prescribe that the worker has the right to an increased salary for work on a holiday or another day for which no work is stipulated by law, in accordance with the collective agreement, the labor regulations and the labor contract,” says the statement of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
