80,000 Overnights expected in Sarajevo for the New Year

new-year-sarajevoDuring the New Year holidays in Sarajevo will be realized a total of 80.000 overnight stays, which makes the Tourist Association of Canton Sarajevo very satisfied. The first tourists will arrive in the capital of BiH today.

A spokeswoman for the Tourist Association of Canton Sarajevo, Asja Hadziefendic-Mesic, said that they are very satisfied with this year’s arrangements as well as the number of tourists that are expected.

However, she noted that delay is noted in booking, which is expected due to all previous events.

“In this whole story we are lucky that we have not received any requests when the system of traffic “even and uneven” was in effect, as we would probably decline a large number of tourists. The first inquiries have arrived after the abolition of the system, so we managed ‘to save’ part of tourists who wanted to come. Today will arrive the first tourists, and the first large group is expected tomorrow, and this applies to all three nights. The large hotels are mostly booked and we have serious cooperation with tourist agencies,” said Hadziefendic-Mesic.

She added that after all the events this year, it is still unclear how many tourists will be in the Square of BiH for the New Year’s Eve, where the star of the evening will be Dino Merlin.

“The data that we have are still at the level of Friday and booking is not operational yet. On Monday morning, the air pollution in Sarajevo was the news in the region, but now no one is trying to send a different picture, that Sarajevo is finally breathing again and that it is ready for the arrival of tourists,” said a spokeswoman for the Sarajevo Tourist Association.

On the Square of BiH, according to previous statements of the organizers of the New Year’s celebrations, is expected a large number of guests. Police will take all measures within its authority when it comes to physical, operational and traffic security.
