A cat caused a flood in the town hall of Dokkum in the Netherlands, causing a total damage of 325,000 euros, the town administration announced.
The cat was discovered in the city hall during construction work, Omrop Fryslan television reported. As the cat could not be caught, the building in the Frisia region was temporarily locked.
The cat then probably opened the tap, which caused the water to leak imperceptibly, eventually flooding some areas of the town hall, furniture and walls.
The damage was so great that some employees had to temporarily work in another building. Some walls and floors needed to be replaced.
At the session of the city council held these days, the final account of the damage of almost 325,000 euros was presented, reports Hina.
The damage, as stated, will be paid by the insurance company.
In the end, it was not possible to prove without a doubt that the cat was actually responsible for the open faucet, because no one testified that the animal did it.
