A group of 11 state parliamentarians sent a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Marinko Cavara, requesting the dismissal of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Stasa Kosarac (SNSD) due to violence against his ex-wife.
Eleven signatories of the initiative (Mira Pekic, Jasmin Emric, Vlatko Glavas, Aida Barucija, Branislav Borenovic, Mladen Bosic, Elvisa Hodzic, Nenad Grkovic, Serif Spago, Darko Babalj and Safet Keso) believe that it is not morally acceptable for Stasa Kosarac to be the head of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and to hold the position of deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH due to his association with domestic violence.
Furthermore, as it turns out, parliamentarians from the ruling coalition (Coalition of the Three, SNSD, and HDZ) were invited to be part of this initiative, but their signatures were missing.
Sanja Stankovic, the ex-wife of Stasa Kosarac, accused her then-husband of the agony she was going through with her children three years ago.
She then testified before the Investigative Commission of the House of Representatives of the PABiH, where she spoke about alleged corruption in the judiciary, domestic violence by her ex-husband, and institutions that did not protect her due to the influence of Minister Kosarac.
The signatories of the initiative pointed out in the letter that this case is also mentioned in the report of the State Department on the situation in BiH for the year 2022.
Stankovic testified before the Temporary Investigation Commission that Kosarac committed violence against her and their son by “strangulating the child”, “threats that the darkness will swallow you up”, “hits on the back of the head with a closed fist, breaking teeth and so on”.
Moreover, she pointed out that the criminal report she submitted was rejected due to “the lack of grounds for conducting criminal proceedings”.
She appealed to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Istocno Sarajevo, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska (RS), and the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights of BiH, but her case never received an epilogue, that is, no investigation was initiated against Kosarac, Klix.ba reports.
