A Message of Peace and Support for Ukraine was sent from Mostar: Young People do not want War

”We gathered in Mostar to send messages of peace, tolerance, and respect, ” said Martin Mikulic, president of the Croatian Student Political Science Forum (HSPF), at a peace parade thatwas aimed to sending support to the Ukrainian people from thiscity on Thursday.

“We want to support the Ukrainian people in difficult times, but we also want to support the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the hope that this situation will end as soon as possible for the benefit of the Ukrainian people,” he noted.

Mikulic added that the entire international, security and political order has been shaken, recalling that Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is often mentioned as a country where the crisis could spill over.

“We young people today say that there will be no war. Young people are not interested in war and we ask all political actors to be serious, to act responsibly, and to participate in creating a rational dialogue in which we will respect each other regardless of differences we may have,” pointed out Mikulic.

“We are very grateful to be here during the war in Ukraine. We are the only Ukrainian volleyball club that can still train and live a normal sports life thanks to the Mostar Student Center. It is important to us that we can speak in the media and present what is really happening in Ukraine. Russia calls it a special military operation, but it’s a war. A serious war. People are dying. Children are dying, too,” told Varvara Koltsova, a member and spokesperson of the Volleyball Club “Balta” from the city of the same name in Ukraine.

She expressed hope that the war would end quickly so that they could return to their homes as soon as possible, where, as she explains, they left their husbands and families.

Mario Kordic, the Mayor of Mostar, said that the City will do everything it can to help these people in need in every possible way.
