This morning, Adnan Ćatić, suspected of terrorism, was arrested at Sarajevo International Airport. His return from the Syrian battlefield via Turkey was tracked by intelligence and security agencies, resulting in his arrest.

Ćatić was arrested by SIPA officers in cooperation with the BiH Border Police and OSA.

BiH Minister of Security Nenad Nešić told Klix.ba that this is a person who has returned from a foreign battlefield and that he participated in organizing a group of people to carry out terrorist activities, and all competent agencies and institutions are aware of everything.

“We continue to monitor all persons of security interest, with a special emphasis on people who have returned from foreign battlefields. I emphasize that my first priority is the safety of our children. I am also wary of the people who need to come to us from Gaza, and I ask that all the necessary checks be carried out so that would avoid any unwanted events,” said Nešić.

Ćatić was arrested due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offenses of “Organizing a terrorist group”, “Illegal formation and joining of foreign paramilitary or parapolice organizations” in connection with the criminal offense of “Terrorism” prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He is suspected of having been a member of ISIL on foreign battlefields for years.
