The Kremlin today described the ongoing diplomatic efforts over a US plan to end the war in Ukraine as a “serious process,” ahead of a US envoy’s planned visit to Moscow next week.

“The process is underway. It is a serious process,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“There is probably nothing more important at the moment,” Peskov added.

Senior Kremlin official Yuri Ushakov confirmed today that US special envoy for peacekeeping Steve Witkoff will visit Moscow next week to discuss a solution to the war in Ukraine.

Ushakov, a foreign affairs adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Kremlin officials had not yet seen the US peace proposal, although representatives of the United States, Russia and Ukraine discussed it in Abu Dhabi earlier this week.
