An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck the area around the Indonesian Talaud Islands today, the German Center for Geosciences (Geofon) said.
The quake struck at 5:17 p.m. local time at a depth of 128 kilometers.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS), however, reported that the quake had a magnitude of 6.2 and that its epicenter was 269 kilometers southeast of Pondaguitan in the Philippines.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
