A large explosion rocked Tehran today, and the Israeli army announced that it targeted the center of the Iranian capital, reports AP. The center of the explosion was in the part of the city where the police headquarters and Iranian state television are located.

Earlier this morning, Iran fired missiles at targets in Israel and the Persian Gulf countries, after vowing retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Israeli-American strikes.

Attacks were also reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Khamenei’s death in an airstrike on his office in Tehran called into question the future of Iran and increased the risk of regional instability, according to AP.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, was killed on Saturday in his office, confirmed today in Tehran.

Iran’s Chief of General Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed in an airstrike during a meeting of the country’s Defense Council, Iranian state television reported today. Security adviser Ali Šamkani is among the officials killed.

An intelligence and military source told CBS News that about 40 Iranian officials were killed in the attacks.

Trump warned Iran not to strike back: They better not do that

American President Donald Trump warned Iran earlier today not to retaliate against the United States and Israel, after Iran threatened attacks in retaliation for the death of Ali Khamenei.

“Iran has just announced that they will strike very hard today, harder than ever before. They better not do it, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before!” Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has warned that it will attack US bases and Israel in retaliation for Khamenei’s death.

“The most devastating offensive operation in the history of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will begin against the occupied territories and American terrorist bases in just a few hours,” they announced early this morning.
