About 100,000 people fled to Syria after the Israeli aerial attacks on Lebanon, the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) announced today.
The number of refugees doubled in two days.
“The number of people who have crossed from Lebanon to Syria, fleeing Israeli airstrikes, has reached 100,000. The exodus continues,” UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi wrote on the X social network.
Among the people who fled the attack, there are Lebanese and Syrian citizens.
“UNHCR members at four crossings are helping these people, in addition to local authorities and the Syrian Red Crescent,” Grandi said.
The UNHCR said on Saturday that more than 50,000 people have fled Lebanon to Syria.
