The group of migrants who were rescued after the capsize of the boat on the Drina was provided accommodation in reception centers, according to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia.

In a press release, they point out on their official website that 16 people, mostly from Syria, are housed in these centers, and among them are six unaccompanied minors.

“At the center where the injured migrants are accommodated, psychological support is also provided, which will be provided by experts from the IAN organization and UNHCR. Our colleagues have received additional instructions on how to proceed in order to ensure full protection and support for the children who were accommodated tonight to the Center,” it added.

The Commissariat called for urgent prosecution of the organizers of illegal crossings across the Drina River.

A boat with about 30 migrants overturned on the Drina in the night between Wednesday and Thursday. So far, the bodies of ten people have been found, including nine-month-old babies.
