Agreement on Improving Business Environment Signed

At the headquarters of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, the Prime Minister Fikret Plevljak signed an agreement with the International Financial Corporation (IFC), with the Swedish Bank as member on the project of improving the business environment and competition in BiH.

On behalf of the IFC, Head of the IFC in BiH Lada Buševac and the Manager for the project on improving business environment in BiH Tarik Šahović attended the signing.

The goal of the project is to increase competition in BiH through lending support to selected institutions at all four levels of government in order to implement reforms in the business environment.

“Improving the business environment is understood as the ability to provide greater investment of local and especially foreign investors and with that, to improve the opportunity for employment. All other problems that we have in our society could be solved more easily as long as we open a new cycle of a larger, more productive and economically justifiable employment. To this end, we are very happy to accept the initiative of the IFC to go into a project with a formal signing of the contract. I hope that in the upcoming period we will show through joint and professional work that partners from BiH, from the Zenica-Doboj canton can cope with the new quality and criteria by the World Bank’’, said Prime Minister Plevljak.

Cooperation will be implemented over the next 12 months in order to come up with successful and dedicated local communities to create new conditions for the development of the private sector.

“It is obvious that the canton has committed leadership, the advantage of its geographical position, industrial tradition and resources, which is a natural and strong base for creating added competition. We can offer assistance in attracting direct foreign investments that are a prerequisite for increasing exports, which should bring to an increase in registered small and medium-sized businesses. All of this rests on the manner in which administrative competition of one canton is ready to take on new challenges with a larger number of registered companies and jobs. In the next 12 months we wish to accomplish, together with Zenica-Doboj canton, the rationalization of administrative procedures and processes and full transparency. We are convinced that this is the right canton, a partner of the IFC’’, said Lada Buševac.
