In average, a total of 1,500 people is searching for salvation from tropical heat in Akvana, Banja Luka. The season is good, and the management still remembers the records from 2010 and 2012.

This season, more than 50,000 people visited this aqua park.

“Now, on these extremely hot days, there is a somewhat smaller number of visits when the temperature is reaching 35 °C, and we record the best visit when the temperature is between 30°C and 35 °C, in case that the warm days are one after another, i.e. there is no rain between them. The month of August is specific by visits of Diaspora. They come, bath a little because then it is the best time for some rest,” said Borivoj Jevdjenovic, from the PE Akvana.

But is it possible to rest at the temperature of 40 °C, and a double level of UV radiation than the normal one? Meteorologists said that extreme UV levels can cause burns, eye damage, infections, and in the worst case even a skin cancer.

However, there is no fear for citizens of Banja Luka and their guests. The water in Akvana is safe, as confirmed by the authorities. Inspectors check the quality of water every week.

However, the Health Inspectorate of the City of Banja Luka and the Institute of Public Health found that the water at seven Banja Luka bath places was polluted in the month of July. Despite the warnings that Vrbanja River and Vrbas River in the places of Slap, Sitari, Abacija, Zelena, Borik, Zuti most and Zeleni vir and bathing is prohibited, citizens still take the risk.

However, rivers are the cheapest and the best way to refresh yourself during a heat stroke.
