Almost 800 People registered to have Measles in Sarajevo

From the beginning of the year until June 7 in Sarajevo, 797 patients were registered to have measles disease, reveals the date from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton.

The largest number of patients was registered in the Novi Grad municipality 298, and the majority were in the age group 2 to 5 years, a total of 267.

Measles were observed in all age groups and in newly born babies and older 50 years of age. Total number of patients who were hospitalized during the period from January 18th2019 to June 7thwas 129.

Of the 797 patients, 734 were not vaccinated and only seven were vaccinated.

The Sarajevo Canton Government on March 15 at an Extraordinary Press Conference invited all parents to vaccinate their children to protect the entire population. There has been one death case since the beginning of the epidemic, News Agency Patria reports.
