The US Ambassador to BiH Michael Murphy and Director of USAID in BiH Emily Coffman Krunić visited the Municipality of Jablanica today, where they met with the Mayor of the Municipality, Damir Šabanović, and once again expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.

In a conversation with Mayor Šabanović, Ambassador Murphy expressed his support and deep sympathy for the families of the victims, as well as all residents of the municipality of Jablanica, and during the visit to the Operational Center of Civil Protection Jablanica, a donation was handed over, announced the Municipality of Jablanica.

“First of all, I would like to emphasize something that we have already emphasized several times, which is that my Government expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. We know that yesterday was really a very difficult and sad day for everyone, and therefore our sympathy, primarily to the families of the victims.” said Murphy and added that the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been in contact with all levels of government in terms of the assistance it can provide to these local communities.

In addition, as he says, the representatives of the projects that implement concrete assistance in the field have been in direct contact with the representatives of the municipal authorities for days, delivering the most basic equipment that was needed at the first moment.

“It is clear that these local communities have a really long and difficult road to recovery from this disaster, but we will certainly, in front of the US Government, continue to be in regular contact with representatives of all levels of government in the country, in order to determine which are the best ways we can help,” the American ambassador emphasized.

He also pointed out that he was deeply and strongly impressed by the response of citizens from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the needs that exist here, after the disaster itself.

“Really, everyone came forward and offered to help. I think that’s just an indication of the best in the people of this country,” Murphy added.

The municipal head Damir Šabanović thanked the US ambassador and USAID director for the visit, but also for the support and help.

“Aid has been coming to the municipality of Jablanica since the first day of the disaster. We are constantly working. So far, a lot of work has been done, but we are aware that there is still a lot of work ahead of us. From the phase when our number one priority was finding all the victims, rescuing people and material goods , we moved into the phase of cleaning, clearing the terrain,” said Šabanović.

He also said that no one will be left alone.

“Everyone will be reached and everyone will be helped, you just need a little patience,” concluded Šabanović, Fena news agency writes.
