Ambassador Knotz said that she was especially looking forward to the movie by Srđan Golubović ‘Circles’, which was shown last night in the summer cinema !hej. She said that this German-Serbian co-production will certainly be one of the highlights of the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival, just like the opening of the movie ‘An Episode in the Life of An Iron Picker’ that was already successful at the film festival in Berlin.
In addition, regarding the program content of this year’s festival, she said that she really liked the Spanish black-white film ‘Blancanieves’, which she describes as ‘a very unusually film full of surprises’.
“Sarajevo Film Festival is one of the shining cultural events of Southeast Europe. The mood in the city during the festival is unique. There is a special atmosphere in the films that are shown during the comfortable summer nights in the open air cinemas in Sarajevo. Throughout the year, Sarajevo has a variety of cultural events, but the days of the film festival are always something special’’, said Knotz.
She is particularly happy for the fact that during the festival guests from all over the world has the chance to see movies from the region.
“This regional component gives the festival a special charm as well as global significance’’, said Ambassador Knotz.
As an important aspect of Sarajevo Film Festival, she said that ‘here young talents get their chance’.
‘’So the German Embassy in B&H consciously decided that in addition to the closing reception ceremony of the festival ‘Closing Drink’, it also supports the project ‘Talent Campus’. Every year the Embassy, regardless of the economic situation, has a smaller budget for the financing of cultural manifestations’’, said Ambassador Knotz to Fena.
This year, the German Embassy to B&H, as was said to Fena from the Embassy, allocated 12.000 KM for the 19th Sarajevo Film Festival, and wished all friends of movies inspirational days in the city with various movies, among which 25 are German co-productions.
Future filmmakers as part of this year’s Talent Campus will have something to learn from German experts Gabriele Brunnenmeyer, Ule Stöckl i Markusa Kuballe, whose arrival to Sarajevo was arranged and paid for by the German Embassy.
