During the farewell visit of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to BiH, Chen Bo, with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Šarović, it was pointed out that thanks to intensive joint work over the past three years, huge progress has been achieved in the cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and China, and foreign trade exchange grew by more than 100 percent.

The two officials pointed out that in the past period, important agreements have been signed between the two countries to improve the economy, such as agreements in the field of agriculture and veterinary medicine, and our country for the first time has been given green light to export food of animal origin to China.

At the meeting, among other things, it was said that Bosnia and Herzegovina has become part of the largest Chinese project “Belt and Road Initiative”, and thanks to the visa liberalization agreement, it is expected that next year, about 100,000 Chinese tourists will visit BiH.

Minister Šarović, as Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the minister responsible for trade affairs, received a written position of the People’s Republic of China regarding the reforms in the World Trade Organization (WTO), where, inter alia, it is emphasized that it is necessary to preserve the fundamental principles of the WTO and protect development programs of member states, and that decisions need to be made by consensus.

Ambassadress Chen Bo stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina suffers damage due to violations of WTO rules because of Kosovo’s introduction of customs duties on products from Bosnia and Herzegovina because the CEFTA agreement is based on the basic rules of the WTO, stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Federal News Agency reports.
