patrick moon-2The Ambassador of the US to BiH Patrick Moon was in Banja Luka yesterday, where he held separate meetings with the RS Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović, President of the RS National Assembly Igor Radojičić, and Dragan Čavić and Krsto Jandrić, the Presidents of the Democratic Party and the People’s Democratic Party, respectively.

At the meeting with the RS Prime Minister, they spoke of the current political and economic situation in the RS and BIH, and the priorities of the RS government in the areas of education, culture, economy, as well as working aspects of regional cooperation.

They spoke of the process of EU integration with a particular emphasis on the possibilities of unblocking the European path caused by the lack of agreement regarding the ruling in the case of “Sejdić-Finci” and mechanisms of coordination.

In separate meetings, the US Ambassador spoke with the Presidents of DP and NDS. They informed him that the newly formed political parties strongly support the Dayton Agreement and EU integration, and they act in opposition to the RS exclusively due to the dissatisfaction with poor economic social situation that is a consequences of bad policy-making of the current government.

During the meeting with Igor Radojičić, Ambassador Moon expressed the view that the efficiency of the judiciary must be more pronounced in the fight against organized crime and corruption in BiH.

Radojičić stressed the need for the adoption of a Law on the BiH Constitutional Court and changes in the functioning of elections, for the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Office, and the judiciary at the lower levels.

They asserted that they have to continue the efforts in finding a solution to the ruling in order to try and establish an agreement before the summer so that progress on the path to the EU can be made.
