forumIn a joint message, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, EU Special Representative/Head of Delegation and Nicholas M. Hill, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America, have encouraged citizens to share their views about how the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina can be boosted.

Their message reads:

Dear Sir/Madam –

The devastating floods in many areas of the country this past week are a source of great sadness and regret. Every person in this country will feel the pain. And every person in this country deserves a brighter future. This makes economic recovery and investment in BiH even more important and urgent than ever.

We know you will agree that far more must be done to broaden opportunity and to improve the quality of life of the people of this country.  And we are writing because we want to learn of your concerns and listen to your ideas.  We all want to do what is necessary to help BiH move forward.

Accordingly, we invite you to share your thoughts on how to bring jobs, investment and prosperity to BiH. A Virtual Forum on Prosperity and Jobs in BiH was launched this week on Facebook and Twitter.  Please join the online interactive discussion on how best to improve the economy and bring jobs, investment and prosperity to Bosnia and Herzegovina. You can share your thoughts using the hashtag #EconForumBiH at:

https://www.facebook.com/EconForumBiH
https://twitter.com/EconForumBiH

Feedback from the Virtual Forum will be collected and used to inform a two-day formal meeting on May 26-27 of leaders and representatives from the government, economic, political, civic, academic, business, and media communities.  This Forum on Prosperity and Jobs is organized in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and they want to hear your opinions too.  We need to identify the key economic challenges facing the country and agree on a package of concrete measures to attract investment, broaden access to economic opportunity, spur the creation of jobs and enhance social protection.

Make sure your opinion and contribution to this debate is heard – join the conversation!

Sincerely,

Peter Sørensen
