The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo International Airport, realized this flight with an observation plane from the Ministry of Defense, that is, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany.

It is an Airbus A319CJ passenger plane specially equipped with sensors and cameras for recording territories under the “Open Skies” contract. Filming was done over the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with take off from Sarajevo International Airport.

The “Open Skies” agreement is one of the security arrangements, which enables the signatory countries to record the territory of the country over which the observation flight is carried out, in order to obtain data on the military forces and their activities. The purpose of the Agreement is to build and develop trust between the signatories. Bosnia and Herzegovina acceded to this Agreement in 2003.
