Analysts believe that BiH should be committed to its own Stability

In relation to the Ukrainian crisis, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) should be committed to its own stability and the achievement of its strategic goals. Analysts point this out, aware of the different views within our country on the conflict between Russia on the one hand and Ukraine and the West on the other. Citizens concerned about the possible wider impact of the Ukrainian crisis are closely following the development of the situation.

BiH does not have a harmonized position on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. That is why we should not allow the disruption of stability and peace by encouraging the great powers to use it as a means of mutual reckoning, according to Professor Milos Solaja. He says that foreign policy should be guided exclusively by institutional mechanisms.

“This primarily means that the Presidency of BiH must take matters into its own hands and in this foreign policy crisis to put BiH in such a way as to remain stable because it will not have an impact on almost anything in this crisis, the country is no longer a model or an example or anything else,” pointed out Solaja.

We do not need to side with anyone, but to fulfill our own strategic goals, according to the former representative of BiH to NATO. We have no reason, says Alija Kozljak, to damage relations with the Russian Federation, but we must convince it not to interfere in the issue of our strategic commitment.

“I do not know what our alternative is, if our official policy says that our path and strategic commitment is to go to the European Union (EU), then I would not call it a commitment but the realization of our strategic goals,” said Alija Kozljak, BiH’s former representative to NATO.

Citizens, for the most part, are following the development of the situation in the east of the continent with increased attention and concern. Some fear a negative impact on our area.

Analysts agree that the crisis that threatens to become global is very much affecting our region. There are three key points, according to professor Solaja, Montenegro with the government crisis, the status of Kosovo, and the internal crisis in BiH. Hetold that the issue of Kosovo will be especially emphasized due to the similar development of events and status with the areas of Donetsk and Lugansk.
