Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic arrived in Tuzla within his visit to BiH where, among other things, he met with members of coordination of the Croatian and Catholic associations of Canton Tuzla, as well as representatives of Croats from the social, political, economic and cultural sphere of life.

He started his visit to this city by visiting the construction site of Catholic Cultural Center “Sveti Franjo” who was supposed to be officially opened soon, and the Government of Croatia allocated significant funds for its construction.

After visiting construction site where he was welcomed by Tuzla’s guardian Fra Mario Divkovic, Plenkovic visited “ethno corner” of the Catholic School Center where he met with members of Coordination of the Croatian and Catholic associations of Canton Tuzla, representatives of Croats from various social spheres, and then with General Consul of Republic of Croatia in BiH Ivan Bandic.

“This is an important part of BiH for the whole country in economical view, but it is important for Croats who live here as well, that is, for almost 24,000 of them. Here we have our general consulate which gives us one regular picture about total status in this part of BiH, but also about the position of Croats,” stated Plenkovic.

When it comes to concrete help to Croats in BiH, Plenkovic recalled that Croatia gave several million HRK during the last and this year.

“With these funds, we are making effort to improve this center, and then school and educational system and on that way to enable better and efficient development of our people in this part of BiH,” added Plenkovic.

Plenkovic was accompanied by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs Zdravka Busic and State Secretary of Central Government Office for Croats outside of Croatia Zvonko Milas, as well as Croatian member of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic.

On this occasion, Covic expressed his gratitude to all of those who helped BiH to experience its stability and to realize its Euro-Atlantic path.
