Halid Bešlić /1953-2025/, a folk music singer who left an indelible mark on the music scene of the former Yugoslavia, died on October 7 last year.

Bešlić’s career lasted more than four decades, and his music connected generations and crossed borders.

Hits like “Miljacka”, “Romanija”, “I can’t live without you” and many others made him a symbol of folk music.

His style combined traditional melodies with modern arrangements, creating a distinctive sound that was and remains unrepeatable.

Bešlić had almost 200 songs in his opus, and he also sang duets with Tif Mladen Vojičić, Haris Džinović, Željko Bebek, Alko Vuica, Branko Sovrlić, Danijela Martinović, Merlin, Hari Varešanović…

Halid Bešlić was born on November 20, 1953 in Knežina near Sokolac.

He took his first steps on the music scene in the mid-seventies of the 20th century, and the songs he sang then became hits that are still listened to today with nostalgia and respect.

His songs were loved by both older and younger audiences.
