Apartments for Socially Vulnerable Population in Tuzla

Tuzla_panorama_1The agreement on the implementation of the project “Social Housing System ( SHS) – Development of an integrated model in theory and practice” is signed.

Within the project “Social Housing System- Development of an integrated model in theory and practice” implemented by humanitarian organization Hilfswerk Austria International – Representative Office in B&H, Local Democracy Foundation and six municipalities in B&H, yesterday in the building of the Municipality of Tuzla took place the signing of the Agreement on implementation of the project with the Municipality of Tuzla, as one of six municipalities in B&H, that implements the project.

The project is based on the idea of developing a new model of sustainable social housing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the construction of six residential buildings in six municipalities. The project aims to contribute to the social stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the improvement of the social security system, and the beneficiaries are vulnerable and socially disadvantaged families, the disabled, single mothers with children, displaced persons and refugees, the homeless and many other vulnerable groups.

In Tuzla, the project includes the construction of one building with 16 apartments for socially vulnerable categories of the population, and Tuzla Municipality will provide 200,000.00 KM, including the land and all the necessary permits. The total value of the project in the six municipalities is € 1,679,115 and the project duration is 20 months. The project is financially supported mainly by the EU.

The Director of Hilfswerk Austria International in Sarajevo, Suzana Jašarević on behalf of the organization expressed the satisfaction for offering concrete assistance to vulnerable groups, and satisfaction for the cooperation with the Municipality of Tuzla during project preparation. Jašarević pointed out that by supporting this project, the European Commission seeks to make a significant step toward the creation of the social housing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
